Are you ready for a change?

Hi! I'm Jasmine!

Jasmine Web.jpg

Two years ago, I was just like you. Browsing around on the web... thinking of doing a teacher training... looking for a CHANGE. I'm not sure whether or not you can relate, but I felt STUCK. I was dissatisfied with my career, to where life was leading me, even though in the eyes of everyone I was "successfully climbing the corporate ladder". I felt there had to be MORE to life.

I was determined for a change

That's when I found Bali & Radiantly Alive's Yoga Teacher Training.

What followed was a journey that to this day continues to surprise me, because it goes beyond my wildest dreams:

  • From having a busy city life in Lima, Peru to living in amazing Bali...
  • From climbing the corporate ladder, jumping from job to job, not knowing what to do with my career, to living the full-on yogi lifestyle and owning Radiantly Alive…
  • From feeling there had to be more to life, to realizing we have the power to manifest what our heart truly desires...

I want the same for you.

Imagine, for just a moment, that every single aspect of your life was exactly as you wanted it to be. Picture yourself spending a month on the beautiful island of Bali, and when you return: you have the job of your dreams, surrounded by a supportive and loving community, in a place you always dreamed of living.

At Radiantly Alive, we know this change is possible.

We know because yoga has been an incredible driver of change in our own lives and the lives of our students. We’ve seen it again and again:

  • Yoga builds community.
  • Yoga increases health and vitality.

  • Yoga destroys negative thought patterns.

  • Yoga eliminates bad habits, bad relationships, and damaging self-talk…

  • Yoga brings you back into contact with your true self.

And there is one place where we see people change more than anywhere else: our Yoga Teacher Trainings.

For people that are ready and eager to change, in just 30 days on the magical island of Bali… they can undergo a complete metamorphosis. Our students come to our trainings as one person and one month later, walk out as brand-new, shiny versions of themselves. Their best selves.

It’s incredible.

The experience

This training is going to change your life.

And I’m not just talking about deepening your practice or giving you the skill you need to teach. Those things WILL change.

I’m talking about the BIG stuff.

  • How you see yourself in the world.
  • How you value yourself.
  • What your purpose is…
  • And so much more…..

Then, 2e’re going to take all those revelations, all those discoveries about your self and the world and transform you into an amazing RA Vinyasa teacher!

Because, think about it. Honestly.

What makes an amazing yoga teacher?

Is it someone who can balance on their fingertips while reciting yoga philosophy? No. It’s someone who is REAL.

  • Someone who can hold space for others.
  • Who is vulnerable.
  • Who is authentic.
  • Someone who has gone DEEP within themselves so they can inspire others to go on the same journey.

You’ll never look at a Vinaysa Flow class the same way again.

You’ll learn from amazing RA studio teachers and our world-class, international faculty.

You'll learn how to move the body with breath in a way that makes sense.

And of course, all the technical foundations that make a great teacher:

  • Anatomy
  • Alignment
  • Adjustment
  • Philosophy

On top of all that….

You’re going to put all these new discoveries, skills, and techniques into practice.

You’ll get very comfortable with your fellow trainees as you begin to teach them how to move their bodies through space.

And they will teach you.

Through all that transformation, learning, and teaching, you will become very close with your fellow trainees.

You will make lifelong bonds that transcend friendship; you will become family for life.

You will join a community that extends far beyond the confines of your training and the studio, but rather to Radiantly Alive teachers and friends around the globe.

the island of the gods

Simply put, Ubud, Bali is incredible.

The location of Radiantly Alive is no coincidence; ‘Ubud’ in Balinese translates to ‘medicine or healing’.

It’s a small town famous for its big energy.

For centuries people have been coming to Ubud to experience the magic of it’s lush jungles, green rice paddies and the rich beauty of it’s culture.

It's no surprise Ubud and Yoga are an incredible mix.

In the past two decades, Ubud has grown to be recognised as one of the best places to practice yoga in the world.

Everywhere you look you’ll find people carrying yoga mats, attending classes and workshops, and eating more vegetarian and raw cuisine than you can imagine.

During the training you will experience  sacred temples, water blessings, vibrant rituals, and the nurturing culture Bali has to offer.

Our Level 2 training is specifically designed for yoga teachers wanting to take their experience and training to new heights - and then immediately apply that experience in practice with the Level 1 trainees.

It’s knowledge, plus action.

So what does it look like in practice? Well, you’ll spend some time in the room with the Level 1 trainees as they move through the curriculum, with some different areas of focus. Additionally, you’ll have private break-out sessions, in intimate groups, with the guest faculty to delve into their areas of speciality (asana, arm balances, adjustments etc). The alignment and adjustment you learn one day you’ll turn round and apply on the Level 1 Trainees the next.

There will also be a larger focus on the business of yoga.

How to make it as a teacher,  how to understand the background behind running retreats, the role of social media and yoga - a look behind the curtain so to speak.

You’ll be coached and guided in creating short video explaining and showcasing your strengths as a teacher, and with our professional photographer, have head shots and yoga shots taken that you can use to build your awareness locally or internationally.

The power of water

We all know that everyday, we are surrounded by the 4 basic elements - Water, Fire, Earth, & Air.

Whoever we are, whatever we do, wherever we live, these things are constant. And while they may be constant, in Bali, those elements are heightened. In Bali, water flows faster, fire burns hotter, earth is denser, deeper and the air crackles with electricity.

For our August training, we will explore and capture the power of water.

Water is one of the most powerful forces on earth. Able to break down rock, yet also able to bring fluidity and balance to all living beings. Water provides us with a fresh start again and again. It has the unique ability to change itself, and change us.  It makes us vulnerable. It makes us human.

We will spend a month exploring the practical, spiritual, and magical aspects of water.

  • You will witness water in it’s purest, most beautiful forms.

  • You will experience the healing and cleansing power of water...

  • And marvel at its sheer ability to change, and change you.

Water blessing

Bali is often referred to as the island of "holy water."

Home to a countless number of sacred springs, holy water is the key element in their purification ceremonies.

The Balinese people participate in water blessings--holy water splashed with a flower as water purification--every single day of the year. Locals believe these rituals assist in cleansing our bodies of the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

As part of our own exploration of water, you will experience a sacred, water purification ritual at one of Bali’s holiest and oldest temples.

Under the guidance of our teachers and a Balinese priest, you will learn how to harness the power of water to wash away the old and create new possibilities for your life.

practice by the sea

No trip to Bali is complete without a visit to one of its beautiful beaches.

During the training, you will visit one of Bali’s most beautiful beaches where you will have the opportunity to practice yoga by the sea.

It’s truly magical.

You’ll also get time to lay on the beach, play in the water, and experience, the joy, hilarity, and challenge of Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga.

special guest teacher

Meghan Currie

In August, Meghan Currie will join us for a public workshop and a private Question and Answer session just for our trainees.

Meghan is electric, potent, and infectious. She is a creator, moulding the light and dark within herself into yoga classes and art which are expansive journeys through inner layers.

She loves this work, this creating, learning, concocting, healing; she has given herself to it fully.

Her teenage years and early twenties were burdened by debilitating anxiety and depression. She traversed this yawning darkness with eyes wide open, always learning.

It was through this trauma that she discovered the immense healing powers of the body-mind.

She now works with these healing powers, moving people beyond what they know, beneath what they see, constantly intuiting the highest truth, the deepest narrative, revealing the wisdom that she found in the dark, as a service to bring others into the light.

meet our teachers

Acacia Jade

Yoga practitioner, teacher, dancer, surfer, and teacher training junkie, Acacia has a passion for sharing yoga with the world. Inspiring her to overcome drug addiction, low self-esteem, and unhealthy relationships, yoga is the thing that saved her life. Using a unique mix of music, breath , movement, and meditation, Acacia takes what she has learned from yoga and yogic philosophy and weaves it into powerful and grounding yoga asana classes. Acacia has trained with great teachers including Baron Baptiste (Baptiste Yoga), Alanna Kaivalya (Jivamukti), and Christine Lee (Anusara). Acacia is now based in Ubud Bali, teaching at Radiantly Alive and around the world.

James Mattingley

Traveler, martial artist, yogi, movement lover, entrepreneur and public speaking specialist, James has a passion for exploring and creating integrated movement to enhance and improve all areas of life. He currently teaches at Radiantly Alive and on teacher trainings in Ubud, Bali. His classes are powerful and evocative with a strong anatomic focus empowering students to explore their connection to the physical, to the mental and most of all, to the breath.

Sanna Kokkonen

Sanna's fascination with movement started at the late 80's when she got sucked into the world of aerobics & pilates. Later on, yoga took over which has been Sanna's passion and driving force for more than twenty odd years. Sanna have fond memories of being one of Petri Raisanen’s first Ashtanga Yoga students in the early 90’s. In a small loft room of a dance studio in Helsinki, Finland she practiced this ‘under-ground’ thing called ‘Ashtanga’ and for the next fifteen years she lived a strict disciplined, sweaty, asana based life under the glow of the charismatic Sri K. Patthabi Jois.

Patthabi Jois’ sad departure led eventually to the joyful discovery of Lama Marut, Sanna's wise and witty spiritual mentor who changed the course of her yoga path towards the inner practices; meditation, pranayama and eastern spiritual thinking and philosophy. Lama Marut authorized Sanna to teach Tibetan Heart Yoga – a form of yoga developed secretly inside the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Her teaching style is therefore not surprisingly firm on the asana side and soft in matters of the heart.

Home for Sanna is Asia, Bali and her beloved yoga studio Radiantly Alive. Her sincere hope is that by sharing the ancient system of yoga through her own learning and experiences, she could help fellow beings to become a better version of their current self.

The schedule is different everyday, though the below gives you some idea of what a day in training would look like:

  • 07:00 - 09.00 | Sadhana (Meditation, Pranayama, Asana)
  • 09.00 - 10.30 | Breakfast Break
  • 10:30 - 12:00 | Teaching Lab
  • 12:15 - 13:00 | Anatomy
  • 13:00 - 14:00 | Lunch Break
  • 14:00 - 15:30 | Asana Lab
  • 15:45 - 16:30 | Philosophy
  • 17:00 - 18:00 | Yin Style Practice

There will also be space for connection (to others and self), some time off most evenings, and even some days to explore or rest. You’ll have all the room you need to learn, grow, breathe and flow.

What people say about us

If you are thinking about coming….make the leap and do it. You will not regret it and what you gain will surpass any expectations. It is challenging, it is intense, and you will come out the other side stronger than you know and permanently transformed.
— Tania
For anyone wanting to test the boundaries of the resistance of their past patterns not serving them, this is the training for you. Besides deepening my practice and creating a foundation as a teacher, it is a blessing to be in this immersion, learning from the best teachers who come with love to teach what they believe in.
— Daria
Acacia is by far one of the most amazing yoga teachers I’ve ever taken a class from or trained with. The thing I like most about Acacia is that she keeps it real, she makes everyone laugh in class, she’s down to earth, she really cares about her students, and she really makes you feel like you’re part of the family.
— Alice Ons
It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever done in my life. I am so blessed to have learnt so much and chosen a beautiful, spiritual family of my own. Life will never be the same, I have so much love and gratitude for the RA team and all they do.
— Jacki
Sanna is a wonderful, experienced teacher and the class has a safe, accepting atmosphere. I feel like I can be just who I am and be exactly where I am in my practice. No need to pretend to be a “perfect yogi”. Sanna also has a great sense of humor and her jokes crack me up every time!
— Kati
If you think you are ready to take your life to the next level, shed your old self and embrace a new and radiant life, if your are ready to see the world in a whole new light, then this is the training for you. Life is not a spectator sport.
— Abe
I loved every moment of this training. It’s given me so many valuable things, insights, tools that it feels like the training had the duration of a year. What appeals to me most is the gift RA creates with a caring, loving environment where it feels safe to grow. I’ve fallen in love with yoga even though it wasn’t my intention to become a teacher I definitely feel strong and skilled enough to practice being a teacher because of this training. This training serves everybody best if they open themselves to look within.
James is a natural leader, and knows how to share a wealth of knowledge with ease and humor. He pushed us to empowerment and helped us embrace our individuality as teachers.
— Ana

  • Where should I stay?

Where you stay is entirely up to you. There are several options at all price ranges throughout Ubud. We’ve made a list of places people have stayed over the years for a variety of budgets. To check it out, click here.

  • What can I expect?

For one month, you will completely absorb yourself in the ancient arts of asana, meditation, and philosophy. You will open your heart, deepen your practice, and form bonds that will last a lifetime. We will begin each day with a 1 hour pranayama and meditation practice, followed by a vigorous, 2 hour asana class. The rest of the day will be spent learning from teachers who are masters in their fields on a variety of subjects–from asana, to philosophy, to public speaking, to creating the life you want for yourself. There will be plenty of time for some fun too–so don’t worry. Our evening sessions and group activities will have you smiling and feeling the love in ways you never thought possible.

  • Where is the training held?

The training is held at Radiantly Alive Yoga Studio, in Ubud, Bali. The studio is located in the center of town close to restaurants, shops, and all the yogis you can imagine.

  • Will I have free time?

The short answer is–yes. However, because this is a 200 hour training and we have a lot to cover, there won’t be large amounts of it. There will be time off each week and meal times and breaks are yours.

  • What kind of certification will I receive?

You will receive a 200 Hour Certificate of Completion from Radiantly Alive. Radiantly Alive is a fully accredited Yoga Alliance Yoga School. You may use this certificate to apply for certification with Yoga Alliance.

  • How early should I arrive prior to the training?

This is entirely up to you. If you are travelling long distances, you may want to allow some extra time to get settled in. Also, please consider your Visa restrictions (see Visa section below).

  • What's the weather like in Bali?

Bali is approximately 8 degrees south of the equator. So you can expect a tropical, warm and humid climate all year around with two main distinctive seasons: Dry Season (March-October) and Rainy Season (November-February). The temperature is humid and generally 27-31 (77-88 F).

  • What kind of food is available?

The food in Ubud is absolutely amazing. Whether omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, or completely raw, this town caters to all tastes. Click here for just a small sampling of what Ubud has to offer.

  • What should I bring?

While there will be plenty of time for rest and integration, the training can be a very consuming experience. For that reason, we recommend that you bring what you need with you. Don’t worry though, if you forget anything, you can find it here in Ubud.

One note: We have a number of special evenings and events planned while you’re with us. One of these nights requires a certain type of dress – please pack a ‘white’ outfit, something that is below knee length for women, and covers the shoulders (men and women).

    We suggest packing:

    • Your favorite yoga mat. If you prefer not to travel with your mat, we also have them at the studio.
    • Comfortable yoga clothes
    • Pool necessities, including swimsuit and sunscreen.
    • Comfortable footwear (flip-flops, open air shoes, etc. are practical).
    • Toiletries, including natural mosquito repellent. It will be provided in the yoga shala and during all class and activities, better if you have your own for meals time and night.
    • Any special medications/treatments you may need.
    • Class notebook, personal journal, pens.
    • Electric adapter (two round pins, 220 volt)
    • Refillable water bottle

  • What is included in the cost?

Cost includes tuition, a manual and all materials, transportation to and from airport, free classes at Radiantly Alive Yoga Studio 1 week before, during, and 1 week after the training.

  • Do I need a visa for Bali?

To enter Indonesia, your passport must have a minimum of 6 months remaining validity from the date of your prospective DEPARTURE FROM Bali. Please be proactive and learn about Visa requirements particular to your own home country in advance of actual travel and ask for confirmation when closer to your departure date since immigration requirements in Indonesia are subject to sudden changes.

If you decide to enter the country on a free, Visa on Arrival, please know this Visa is not renewable. You will be charged a 300,000 IDR fee for every day you overstay your Visa. If you’re planning to overstay less than 3 days, this may be a more affordable option than obtaining a visa. You may also consider obtaining a 60 day Visa on Arrival ($35 USD) which is renewable after 30 days. If you obtain one of these, please consider, Radiantly Alive cannot assist you with the renewal and cannot guarantee you will have time during the training to go to Immigration for the renewal process.

We will do our best to keep you updated on any changes we become aware of, however it is solely your responsibility to arrange your visa and paperwork for the time you plan to be in Bali. We strongly recommend you obtain a visa in advance from the Indonesian Consulate in your home country. This will allow you to relax and enjoy the training without concerns of Visa renewal. If you elect to get a visa that requires a renewal during the course of the training we cannot guarantee you will have the time and availability to leave the training site to do so.

  • Do I need travel insurance?

It may be worth being comprehensively insured to cover all costs and consequences of medical treatment, repatriation, damage/theft/loss of personal belongings, recovery of course fees and flights booked in the event of cancellation or early departure.

  • What about medical care?

In the case of minor illnesses or injuries, there are a few medical clinics in the local Ubud area and several international clinics closer to the airport. These clinics typically do not accept insurance (though you may be reimbursed through your insurance provider) and are relatively inexpensive. If situations require extreme medical emergency care, patients are evacuated to Singapore. Due to significant cost evacuation care, it is advisable to check this coverage is included on your medical plan.

    Important warning

it shouldn’t need to be stated though due to the extreme nature of penalties in Indonesia we put an extra cautionary note DO NOT bring any even “mild” drugs/narcotics (other than prescription) into the Country. Violators, even if they are not from Indonesia, are subject to life in a 3rd world prison and the death penalty, and the foreign governments can do very little about it: don’t take any risks.

  • How good at Yoga do I have to be to attend?

We recommend you have at least 1 year experience practicing yoga, however there are no specific asana or fitness requirements.
