As I have shared with you, my experience of traveling to Bali and joining the Yoga Teacher Training with Radiantly Alive sparked massive changes in my life.

So let me take you deeper now and share a little bit more about the powerful experience you'll go through when you join us for a Level 2 teacher training.

The experience

We’ve been inspired by the lush, flowing, and enlivening abundance of Bali’s natural world and culture. We've drawn from the energies of Fire, Air, Earth and Water, which are deeply connected to the roots of yoga philosophy. These elements are weaved into the training as they are within all of us, and are harnessed through our practice.

We delve into these energies through participating in ancient Balinese Hindu rituals in some of Bali's most sacred temples, practicing asana by moving our bodies synchronized to our breath whilst ebodying yoga philosophy in our minds and hearts. All this will deepen in a way which creates balance, wellbeing and transformation.

With your Level 1 200 hour yoga teacher training already completed, your first steps into teaching have been taken. Most of you will already have solid real world teaching experience, and are now looking to take things deeper – and that’s exactly what our Level 2 is about.

We combine the traditional focus on

  • asana,
  • alignment,
  • adjustment,
  • anatomy and
  • teaching skills with a deep exploration into who you are as a teacher,

and what your gifts you have to give to your students. With your gifts uncovered, you’ll work with our team to develop them as a message, learn how to consciously use social media get yourself out there and explore the business side of yoga. Importantly you’ll learn the tools to reach more people, in a way that feels authentic to them, and to you.

As our Level 1 and Level 2 trainings are run simultaneously, you’ll have the chance to apply what you learn in adjustments and leadership directly to level 1 trainees. We’ll come together as one big group on occasion, then separate to different shalas as each training progresses. This gives you the chance to practice in hone your skills not just theoretically or with one another, but with direct application, similar to what it would be in a live class setting.

We’ll help guide and cultivate your message and unique skills and interests preparing a Karma project (see more under prerequisite section on this page) – with steps to be completed as part of your certification requirements. Each week you’ll meet with the Radiantly Alive studio owner, Rafael, to develop a project to put into action after the training as service to the world and to express what you have to offer. In the past, we’ve had trainees create everything from pop-up yoga in the park, to yoga events with more than a 1000 people attending!

By the end of this training you will have advanced your asana and teaching skills, have real world experience of what you've learned, have a clear understanding of your strengths as a teacher and a project you can then put directly into action. In addition, the whole time you’ll be meeting and connecting with fellow trainees and the RA staff, undergo deep transformation and leave feeling like you’ll always have a home to come back to in Ubud.

You will join a community that extends far beyond the confines of your training and the studio, but rather to Radiantly Alive teachers and friends around the globe. Who knows, you might like it so much that you decide to stay even longer after the training just to soak it all up... and maybe you even stay with us, as our teacher’s James, Jasmine, Michaela or Shae did!

Your time won’t be spent with a single teacher. This is not a ‘one teacher one way’ training.

Our lead teacher, James Mattingley, is based at Radiantly Alive, though he trains and teaches all over the world.

In addition to James, we are bringing in assisting teachers and multiple teaching faculty, who are part of our international RA family, that specialise in body reading, alignment, advanced asana, business and marketing, leadership skills – all to create a program that allows you to apply the parts that most resonate with you. You’ll also take classes and have sessions with our RA trained resident studio teachers.

Though the main focus will be RA Vinyasa, you’ll experience different styles of yoga and along with this, different styles of teaching. Each person brings their own unique flavor, demonstrating that what really makes a strong teacher so much about how they embody their unique talents and expression of who they are.

You'll get a chance to explore your creative side, resonating with practices and teaching styles that fit you best, and drawing from this as inspiration to be yourself and deliver your own unique teaching.


LEAD Teachers

James Mattingley

Traveler, martial artist, yogi, movement lover, entrepreneur and public speaking specialist. James has a passion for exploring and creating integrated movement to enhance and improve all areas of life and for connecting people to themselves and to their purpose. Knowing the importance that body and breath play in intimacy, he has led thousands of people to a deeper understanding of who they are.

Through movement classes and transformational workshops, James guides people to deepen their relationships to themselves, and to those around them. 

He currently teaches at Radiantly Alive and on teacher trainings in Ubud, Bali. His classes are powerful and evocative with a strong anatomic focus empowering students to explore their connection to the physical, to the mental and most of all, to the breath.

James is a natural leader, and knows how to share a wealth of knowledge with ease and humor. He pushed us to empowerment and helped us embrace our individuality as teachers.

Carlos Tao - Body Reading & Philosophy


Carlos’s style of yoga is strong, intelligent, playful and full of heart. His movements and sequences embody in-depth alignment, intuitive cues and a constant reminder of the genius, power and beauty inherent in every body in every moment. Carlos is known for offering an incredible richness of accessible alignment in a fun way that offers more and more freedom of movement and heart. From beginners to experienced, there is always a new wrinkle to be revealed.

Michaela Westermark


For Michaela yoga is the philosophy of peace. With a background in journalism and social development programs she has lived and worked around the world for the past 10 years, always seeking to raise the universal awareness. She kept going back to India where she studied Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Iyengar Yoga with various renowned teachers, and eventually this led her to become a full time Yoga teacher. In India she also met her spiritual teacher Sudhir Rishi of Tiruvannamalai, with whom she continuously studies the vedic philosophy, pranayama and meditation.

From personal experience of overcoming panic attacks and anxiety- Michaela is convinced that yoga can be a highly transformative practice and that conscious breathing and movement can be a key to self-discovery and inner peace. Her inspiration derives from the ancient teachings, but her approach is modern, focusing on how our practice can be useful and inspiring in our present-day society. Michaelas classes are known to be creative, challenging and explorative. She wants to inspire people to take their practice beyond their mats, to make yoga a way of walking through life.


Mesi Toth


Mesi’s desire to live a life of meaning led her to the practice of yoga as a living art form. Over the years she’s been peeling back the layers of herself with a sense of urgency and unwavering curiosity.

For Mesi, asana practice is a laboratory where the practitioner can lean into the felt sense of who they really are. Into the Universal Self. Her own practice is rooted in Embodied Flow, Yin yoga and motherhood - a practice that is continuously adapting as she meets everyday life.

In her facilitation, Mesi opens up the space for exploration, encouraging students to let their inner wisdom and authentic self emerge into it’s full freedom. 

Mesi is a certified RYT 500 Embodied Flow, Yin Yoga, Prenatal and Pilates Facilitator, and an aspiring Doula. She lives in Ubud, Bali with her family.




Pedro Salazar


Pedro teaches yoga with simplicity, joy and respect, encouraging his students to focus on the present moment. His holistic approach also delivers a deep experience of inner connection by the Energy Healing work he provides at the end of his sessions. This aids in the process of integration that Yoga brings to our lives. By combining flow, movement, and breath, he helps others to release tension and bring stillness to their minds.






These teachers will offer their vast knowledge on their own areas of expertise. They are partially made up of our international family, as well as residing here in Bali.


Kino McGregor - Ashtanga


Kino McGregor is an international yoga teacher, author of four books, producer of six Ashtanga Yoga DVDs, writer, vlogger, world traveler, co-founder of Miami Life Center, co-fouder of Yoga Challenge and OmStars and co-creator of Yoga Pro Wheel.

Kino’s dharma is to help people experience the limitless potential of the human spirit through the inner tradition of yoga. She is one of the few people in the world of yoga to embrace both the traditional teaching of India’s historic past and the popular contemporary social media channels. She teaches classes and workshops all over the world and is present on social media with over 2 million followers across all her channels.

With more than 18 years of experience in Ashtanga Yoga, she is one of a select group of people to receive the Certification to teach Ashtanga yoga by its founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and practice into the Fifth Series of Ashtanga Yoga.


Rachel Ellery - Anatomy

Rachel is a UK-trained Osteopath, specializes in teaching human anatomy and movement principles to yoga students/teachers from around the world. Her mantra “educating and moving the world one body at a time” stems from over 24 years of hands on experience and 14 years of teaching.

Her passion to help others through touch and movement began while practicing sports therapy in the UK and Caribbean. As part of her natural progression Rachel studied for an honors degree from the British School of Osteopathy, where she graduated in 2000.

She combines her extensive knowledge of sports therapy, pilates and osteopathy, into a unique interactive anatomy and movement education, that is inspiring, interactive and fun. Rachel has practiced osteopathy and taught anatomy, touch, as well as practical technique in New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia. 


Mark Das - Arm Balances, Yoga Business & Marketing


In my previous life I had been a passionate entrepreneur for many years. It was a fast-paced life, where my movement practice gave me a chance to pause and reflect on who I am, and my place on this planet. The more I engaged in yoga, acrobatics and hand balancing, the clearer it became: my place is to teach movement, through my unique perspective, enriched by the specific skills I had devotedly refined over the years.

I’m happiest seeing my students thrive, and my personal belief is that what we call teaching is truly a co-creation. We come together to find what works for every body. There are no limits to the creative solutions we can implement, so that each one of us has access to freedom and empowerment through movement, no matter where we are on our journey. My movement philosophy is that it’s not about what looks good, but about what feels good. This is a Vinyasa based training. 

Joining any of our Teacher Trainings, you will begin a lifelong journey with Radiantly Alive Vinyasa - a precise, breath-led style of practice that will profoundly change the way you practice, learn and teach. If you haven't already, you will discover how to move the body with breath in a way that makes sense and just feeeeeeeeels good.

At the heart of a Vinyasa yoga practice, we are moved from our breath as our bodies experience the invisible forces of the air element that nourishes your cells, provides energy and expansion, allows movement and cleanses your being, and letting go that we practice through yogic breathing in a flowing asana sequence. Your breath is your life. Through our breath we dive into the invisible force of the air element.

Elizabeth Browning

Our Level 2 training is specifically designed for yoga teachers wanting to take their experience and training to new heights.

You will learn more complex structures of sequencing, alignment, anatomy and adjustments from our amazing RA studio teachers and our world-class, international faculty, directly applying these lessons the entire way through the training in real class settings.

What makes this Level 2 training different?

This training is run in conjunction with the Level 1 YTT. In order for you to have a real world experience and practice your newfound knowledge, you will apply your learnings in practice with the Level 1 trainees immediately! It’s knowledge, plus action. 

So how does this look in practice?

You will spend some time in the room with the Level 1 trainees as they move through their curriculum, with some different areas of focus. Additionally, you’ll have private break-out sessions, in intimate groups, with international guest faculty to delve into their areas of speciality (asana, arm balances, adjustments, etc.). The alignment and adjustment you learn one day you’ll turn round and apply on the Level 1 Trainees the next day. 

Large Focus on Business

Whether you are seeking to teach small-scale, or wanting to create a larger studio base, understanding the core elements behind the business of yoga is a key component for your yoga career. You’ll learn the fundamentals of running retreats, studio spaces, scheduling, the role of social media within marketing. You will get a look behind the curtain so to speak.

You’ll leave the Level 2 training with a deeper understanding of yoga, direct experiences of applying what you've learned, and a clear direction to move forward in your yoga career.

This is an intensive style training, though we balance activity with rest. You’ll have all the room you need to learn, grow, breathe and flow. In this training, you will rekindle the flame of your spirit, find a more easeful flow in your life, breathe into a new beginning and ground down into your true self. This is a yoga alliance certified training.



In order to participate in the 300-hr RA YTT, you must have successfully completed a Level 1 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.


Completion of all RA Level I 200 hour reading prerequisites: 
Write 300 words about the following 3 books and one video including your insights, thoughts and anything else you found valuable. 

  • “The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You are” by Brene Brown Ph.D.
  • “The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself" by Micheal A. Singer
  • Ebook: "The Anatomy of Fascia" by James Mattingley
  • Ted Talk: “Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are” by Amy Cuddy


Completion of reading the following texts, along with a 500 word book report:

  • "Your Body, Your Yoga: Learn Alignment Cues That Are Skilful, Safe, and Best Suited To You" by Berni Clark
  •  “A Complaing Free World: How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted” by Will Bowen

You will find all books at your local bookstore or online on Amazon, purchased at your own expense. The videos are found free online via the link, and the Ebook ‘The Anatomy of Fascia’ we will send to you, once you sign up for the training.

All written reports need to be submitted two weeks prior to the start date of the training. If you are a last minute sign up, don't worry, you can send in the reports latest one month after the training has ended.


One month prior to the start date of your training (where possible):

  • Begin the Complaint Free Challenge (laid out in the book “A Complaint Free World”)
  • Meditation Practice for the four weeks leading up to the training:
    • Minimum 20 minutes
    • Seated meditation
    • For each week, meditate on the following questions:
    • Week 1            How has yoga changed my life?
    • Week 2            Which teachers have most inspired me?
    • Week 3            How do I want my students to feel at the end of a class?
    • Week 4            What gift do I, uniquely, have to give to a class?

Some things to keep in mind: You can choose the style of meditation, though it is to be seated. Rather than thinking of the question the whole time, read it to yourself prior to starting, and once again when you’ve finished. After each sit, journal about what comes through. 



In many ways this is one of the most valuable pieces of your Level 2 teacher training. During the training you will receive coaching and clarity around what your teaching and purpose is. From this place, you’ll be guided through the steps to create your own Karma Project. It will be some event, action, or offering that expresses your unique skills in a free or not-for-profit environment.

Examples from previous years are: the creation of International Yoga Day in Cape Town, pop-up yoga classes for charity in local parks or halls, work with local charities (human and animal) and much, much more.

The groundwork for this will be laid out during the training. There will be requirements and preparations that we will cover that you will need to complete before the end of the training for certification – though the project itself will be completed after the training.

One of the most valuable aspects of our trainings is that you are in a real studio environment with all our resources at your disposal - that means that although this is a Vinyasa training, you will have the chance to sample a variety of styles like Ashtanga, Yin, Sky Yoga (Aerial), amongst others and experience sessions with all our teachers, exposing yourself to different ways of teaching for you to find what resonates best with you.

Many of our trainees have found us through taking our classes. Some have felt drawn to our trainings without yet visiting us. Every trainee felt a connection to our passion for yoga, a healthy lifestyle and radiant living, and has been happy to join our RA family and get to know our amazing Balinese family that make up our staff.

Describing this training, the teachers, the content and the experience is close to impossible.
Ever since the first time I stepped into RA I felt a sense of warmth, joy and contentment. Since the beautiful souls, Rafael and Jasmine took over ownership this feeling was magnified infinitely, with the addition of love, honesty and safety.   • Where should I stay?

    Where you stay is entirely up to you. There are several options at all price ranges throughout Ubud. We’ve made a list of places people have stayed over the years for a variety of budgets. To check it out, click here.

  • What can I expect?

    For one month, you will completely absorb yourself in the ancient arts of asana, meditation, and philosophy. You will open your heart, deepen your practice, and form bonds that will last a lifetime. We will begin each day with a 1 hour pranayama and meditation practice, followed by a vigorous, 2 hour asana class. The rest of the day will be spent learning from teachers who are masters in their fields on a variety of subjects–from asana, to philosophy, to public speaking, to creating the life you want for yourself. There will be plenty of time for some fun too–so don’t worry. Our evening sessions and group activities will have you smiling and feeling the love in ways you never thought possible.

  • Where is the training held?

    The training is held at Radiantly Alive Yoga Studio, in Ubud, Bali. The studio is located in the center of town close to restaurants, shops, and all the yogis you can imagine.

  • Will I have free time?

    The short answer is–yes. However, because this is a 200 hour training and we have a lot to cover, there won’t be large amounts of it. There will be time off each week and meal times and breaks are yours.

  • What kind of certification will I receive?

    You will receive a 300 Hour Certificate of Completion from Radiantly Alive. Radiantly Alive is a fully accredited Yoga Alliance Yoga School. You may use this certificate to apply for certification with Yoga Alliance.

  • How early should I arrive prior to the training?

    This is entirely up to you. If you are travelling long distances, you may want to allow some extra time to get settled in. Also, please consider your Visa restrictions (see Visa section below).

  • What's the weather like in Bali?

    Bali is approximately 8 degrees south of the equator. So you can expect a tropical, warm and humid climate all year around with two main distinctive seasons: Dry Season (March-October) and Rainy Season (November-February). The temperature is humid and generally 27-31 (77-88 F).

  • What kind of food is available?

    The food in Ubud is absolutely amazing. Whether omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, or completely raw, this town caters to all tastes. Click here for just a small sampling of what Ubud has to offer.

  • What should I bring?

    While there will be plenty of time for rest and integration, the training can be a very consuming experience. For that reason, we recommend that you bring what you need with you. Don’t worry though, if you forget anything, you can find it here in Ubud.

    One note: We have a number of special evenings and events planned while you’re with us. One of these nights requires a certain type of dress – please pack a ‘white’ outfit, something that is below knee length for women, and covers the shoulders (men and women).

    We suggest packing:

    • Your favorite yoga mat. If you prefer not to travel with your mat, we also have them at the studio.
    • Comfortable yoga clothes
    • Pool necessities, including swimsuit and sunscreen.
    • Comfortable footwear (flip-flops, open air shoes, etc. are practical).
    • Toiletries, including natural mosquito repellent. It will be provided in the yoga shala and during all class and activities, better if you have your own for meals time and night.
    • Any special medications/treatments you may need.
    • Class notebook, personal journal, pens.
    • Electric adapter (two round pins, 220 volt)
    • Refillable water bottle

  • What is included in the cost?

    Cost includes tuition, a manual and all materials, free classes at Radiantly Alive Yoga Studio 1 week before, during, and 1 week after the training.

  • Do I need a visa for Bali?

    To enter Indonesia, your passport must have a minimum of 6 months remaining validity from the date of your prospective DEPARTURE FROM Bali. Please be proactive and learn about Visa requirements particular to your own home country in advance of actual travel and ask for confirmation when closer to your departure date since immigration requirements in Indonesia are subject to sudden changes.

    If you decide to enter the country on a free, Visa on Arrival, please know this Visa is not renewable. You will be charged a 300,000 IDR fee for every day you overstay your Visa. If you’re planning to overstay less than 3 days, this may be a more affordable option than obtaining a visa. You may also consider obtaining a 60 day Visa on Arrival ($35 USD) which is renewable after 30 days. If you obtain one of these, please consider, Radiantly Alive cannot assist you with the renewal and cannot guarantee you will have time during the training to go to Immigration for the renewal process.

    We will do our best to keep you updated on any changes we become aware of, however it is solely your responsibility to arrange your visa and paperwork for the time you plan to be in Bali. We strongly recommend you obtain a visa in advance from the Indonesian Consulate in your home country. This will allow you to relax and enjoy the training without concerns of Visa renewal. If you elect to get a visa that requires a renewal during the course of the training we cannot guarantee you will have the time and availability to leave the training site to do so.

  • Do I need travel insurance?

    It may be worth being comprehensively insured to cover all costs and consequences of medical treatment,repatriation, damage/theft/loss of personal belongings, recovery of course fees and flights booked in the event of cancellation or early departure.

  • What about medical care?

    In the case of minor illnesses or injuries, there are a few medical clinics in the local Ubud area and several international clinics closer to the airport. These clinics typically do not accept insurance (though you may be reimbursed through your insurance provider) and are relatively inexpensive. If situations require extreme medical emergency care, patients are evacuated to Singapore. Due to significant cost evacuation care, it is advisable to check this coverage is included on your medical plan.

    Important warning

    it shouldn’t need to be stated though due to the extreme nature of penalties in Indonesia we put an extra cautionary note DO NOT bring any even “mild” drugs/narcotics (other than prescription) into the Country. Violators, even if they are not from Indonesia, are subject to life in a 3rd world prison and the death penalty, and the foreign governments can do very little about it: don’t take any risks.

  • How good at Yoga do I have to be to attend?

    We recommend you have at least 1 year experience practicing yoga, however there are no specific asana or fitness requirements.
