Vibrant Living Yoga
Teacher Training and Intensive
200-hour Yoga Alliance certification course
with Daniel Aaron Horne
March 12 - April 9, 2006
Ubud, Bali

I've dedicated my life to awakening. Awareness of our incredible potential for happiness, and that we are naturally encoded with everything we need to realize it, has led me on amazing personal and professional explorations in the fields of health and consciousness. Yoga has been at the center and continues to delight me as vehicle for guiding others.

Wake up! That's the message of the yoga teacher. We wake ourselves first, we see the perfection in those who come to us and we offer all that we can to encourage them to realize their true Self.

Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training guides you to experience yourself free of false limitations and empowers you to assist others. Drawing on my extensive yoga practice and training (with dozens of modern masters), you will dive deeply into a spectrum of today's yogic styles, including jivamukti, astanga, iyengar and more. Discover how you share yoga by learning what's come before you.

Yoga has remained a steady friend and tool, and my education has gone far beyond asana. Using ancient scripture and philosophy in a contemporary context we employ the best tools possible to experience the essence of yoga: meditation (accepting what is), nutrition (optional exquisite living foods), humor, music (live kirtan), guilt-free super chocolate, nature, chanting, kindness, cranio sacral/yogic anatomy. Exceptional experts contribute to your training as guest faculty (see this page again soon for photos and biographies).

Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training is suitable for any level of experience. Whether you are already teaching or about to begin, deepening skills, understanding, confidence and presence enables you to reach people more effectively through your authentic experience of yoga. Enhance every aspect of your life through a full yogic immersion inviting forth your greater potential.
"Daniel is a caring and dedicated yogi who has experienced the fullness of the teachings and brings that fullness to all those with whom he shares ." David Life, co-founder of Jivamukti Yoga, author, master teacher.
Vibrant Living Yoga emerges from my intention to help students accept themselves fully and challenge their limitations. Mixing education, experience, creativity and spontaneity, we create classes that are eclectic, fun and inspiring. I thrive in Ubud, Bali , and offer workshops and retreats around the world. I am most grateful to Sharon Gannon, David Life, Tim Miller, Rodney Yee, Byron Katie, Dharma Mittra , David Garrigues, Paul Lowe, Richard Freeman, Pattabi Jois, Eckhart Tolle, Rod Stryker, Kofi Busia and so many more extraordinary teachers.
About Vibrant Living Yoga
My highest aim in sharing yoga is for students to accept themselves fully, to experience Samadhi - Self-realization, happiness and peace - and to acquire tools to access this state always.

As the saying goes 'the truth cannot be said.' It can, however, be heard. It's inherent in each of us. It's who we are. The essence of yoga is remembering who we are.

I create conditions where the truth might be heard through challenging asana (posture), vinyasa (breath and movement), spiritual insight, pranayama (breath exercise), meditation, music, and humor.

Yoga has remained a steady friend and tool, and I have gone far beyond asana. Using ancient scripture and philosophy in a contemporary context I employ the best tools possible. Drawing on my extensive yoga practice and training with dozens of modern masters (Iyengar, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Bikram, Sivananda, Anusara, Kripalu), creativity and spontaneity, we create classes that are eclectic, fun and inspiring.

Govinda Kai, age 46, has been involved in Martial Arts, meditative disciplines and Yoga for over 20 years. His father Edward, who died when Govinda was 16 years old, was an accomplished martial artist, having earned his black belt in Judo and his fifth degree black belt in Aikido. From his father, Govinda inherited a deep, abiding interest in those practices that integrate mind, spirit and body development.

At age 18, Govinda Kai began to practice Zen meditation, Martial Arts and Yoga. While attending the University of California at Santa Cruz, where he was enrolled in the Environmental Studies program, he spent 2 years studying Tibetan Buddhism under the tutelage of Sogyal Rimpoche, the author of "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying".

In his 20s, he intensified his involvement in the practice of Aikido, practicing with some of the foremost Aikido instructors in the world (Kanai Sensai in Boston, MA, Shiba Sensai in Berkeley, CA and Yamaguchi Sensai in Tokyo, Japan). At age 31, Govinda began to devote himself solely to the practice of Yoga. He spent 2-3 years studying with senior Iyengar Yoga instructors (including Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee and Judith Lasater) at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco, CA.

For the past 13 years, Govinda Kai has been involved full time with the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. From 1995-2003, Govinda has visited Mysore 5 times with the duration of each visit lasting 4-6 months. He has also worked extensively with some of the most senior Ashtanga practitioners and teachers (including Richard Freeman, Tim Miller, Danny Paradise and Eddie Stem) attending numerous intensives and workshops. Additionally, Govinda owned and successfully operated a Real Estate Appraisal firm based in San Francisco, CA for 15 years. He retired from his business in 1996 to devote himself fully to teaching and practicing Yoga. He has taught Ashtanga Yoga at several of San Francisco's main yoga studios and has lead numerous workshops. He currently holds the position teaching Ashtanga Yoga at Patanjali Yoga Shala in New York City. Govinda was featured in the 2002 Yoga Journal calendar.

Solomon O'Thello
Born in New Zealand in 1969 whilst my parents were travelling and living by horse & cart. Upon meeting with Vishnu devotees, Vaishnavas, at the age of 9, Solomon travelled to India alone to attend Gurukula in Vrndavan, UP. There he entered a Vaishnava Ashrama in which he found himself studying Sanskrit, reading Bhagavata Gita, rising before the sun every morning to attend temples for Kirtana, lectures and meditations, and living an Ayurvedic lifestyle. The food was pure vegetarian and it was in these temples where he first started grinding masalas on stone and preparing dishes for the various deities that were worshiped in the temples. After two years of Gurukula in Vrndavan he traveled to Calcutta to attend a Gurukula in Mayapur, Bengal, and continued to cook with great Matajis.

He returned to Australia, graduated from high school and after four years in Europe returned home to help establish the family software business. In 2000 he began catering for Yoga Retreats, Health Resorts and vegetarian cafés in Byron Bay, including Gunnabah, Uki Dreaming and New Govardhana. He was also involved with catering for music and folk festivals, The Australian Vegan Society and other private clients with various retreats.

In 2004 he returned to the Sunshine Coast to live on the family farm and prepared meals at the local Buddhist Studies Instititute, Chenrezig, in Eudlo for the year. Having been introduced to Raw Food, Solomon now serves as chef at the Fountainhead Organic Health Spa, conducting Raw Food Preparation, and Ayurvedic cooking classes on a weekly basis.

It is through openness to new opportunities, new people and new ideas that Solomon finds great inspiration and different perspectives to life and cooking.

Swami Vagishananda Saraswati
Swamiji is a senior disciple of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and has been studying and teaching Vedanta and Vedic chanting for the past 25 years.

Fascinated with mystical poetry and non-dual philosophies, he was accepted to a course of study with Swami Dayananda at the age of 19, after which he went to India. He graduated from an intensive three-year residential course in Vedanta Sanskrit and Vedic chanting. Under Swami Paramarthananda, a fellow student and master of Vedic chanting, he studied and practiced Sri Rudra Prasnam (the most exalted Vedic prayer) and the main Vedic Suktas Mantras and Upanishads in the traditional manner. Later, while living and teaching in a Hindu temple in Flint, Michigan, he was blessed with daily private classes in Sanskrit phonetics and advanced chanting for two years under the renowned Vedic pundit Ganapathigal Ravichandran Ayar. Perfecting the South Indian Krsna Yajur Vedic style of his Guru, he was given formal permission to teach all that he had learned. He was a staff member in the four subsequent three-year courses, taught by Swami Dayananda in the United States and India, in which he taught Vedic chanting to the resident students.

Swamiji now travels extensively and conducts many Retreats and Vedanta classes in the United States, Canada, England, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil. He is a master of the Sanskrit language and an accomplished teacher of Vedanta in the traditional methodology called Sampradaaya. He has imbibed and assimilated many qualities of his Revered Guru, which manifest in his person and reflect in his teaching style.

Bali
The island of the gods, Bali and her people is a culture Yoga International magazine describes as 'living yoga.' Spirituality, harmony with nature, peacefulness - these elements embody the Balinese way of life. Ubud, an artist's Mecca , is the cultural heart of Bali . Embedded in rice terraces, temples and powerful energy, at a slight elevation so cooler than the nearby coastal heat, Ubud's climate has turned it into the perfect yogic destination.

Anahata Resort
Anahata Villas and Spa Resort is a luxurious retreat for mind, body and soul, located minutes from Ubud, perched amidst luscious tropical forests overlooking the Petanu River . Anahata, the Sanskrit word for the heart chakra, love, compassion and harmony, elegantly combines modern design, traditional Balinese architecture and tropical paradise. Each villas houses three distinct bedrooms, a communal living area and private plunge pool facing scenic natural vistas.
