|Calling all raw food enthusiasts! Radiantly Alive has created an incredible, one-of-a-kind Raw Chef Certification Course in Bali. Dive into four weeks of training, up close and personal, with Master Raw Food Chef and Instructors, Ben Richards and Sayuri Tanaka.
The Raw Chef training runs in parallel and support of Radiantly Alive's Yoga Teacher Training. Your education combines the best of all elements – Ben and Sayuri`s expertise and training, the practical and rewarding experience of preparing food for yogis, the opportunity to participate in portions of the yoga training, a dynamic and enthusiastic educational staff guiding the apprentices, plentiful and incredible all-organic local fruits, vegetables and superfoods (coconuts, cacao, cashews and more) - and all set in the beauty of spiritual Bali.
You`ll experience hands-on daily catering for a large group of yoga students while learning the ins and outs of making delicious, gourmet, beautiful dishes that include breakfasts, breads, pastries, desserts, ethnic entrees, wraps, salad dressings, dips, dehydrates, chocolates, elixirs, beverages, soups, exotic fruits and ingredients, and so much more.
Receive an in-depth manual that includes recipes and philosophies behind what you learn. Integrate how to make an array of gourmet, raw, vegan foods that you can, in turn, teach or cater anywhere in the world.
* Optional and when noted by your chef - Raw Food Chef Certification Trainees will be invited to join in some select classes from the Yoga Teacher Training program: meditation, yoga, films, lectures, performances and more.
Unique field trips enhance your education in the kitchen - possibilities include: (subject to change depending on curriculum/faculty) visits to a local raw cacao facility and production center shopping at Balinese markets for local produce and spices, exploring medicinal herb and mushroom walks and talks, trip to a local permaculture center, experiencing local, raw, vegan cafes, yoga adventures and more.

Sayuri's early experience with an unconventional way of eating fueled her enthusiasm towards healthy food from an early age, and naturally prompted her into the field of preparing natural foods. Her passion and ability to communicate these great talents exceeds more than the intricacies of creating amazing raw food... she takes a holistic approach on sharing perhaps the most valuable lesson - inspiring others how to embody a fuller and happier life, free from unhealthy obstacles and connected to your true nature through a raw food diet.
She worked as a chef at Pure Cafe in Tokyo, where she developed her passion for the art of vegan cuisine. Having studied the macrobiotic approach at Lima Cooking School in Tokyo and independently studied natural hygiene and plant base nutrition, Sayuri found herself in the raw food lifestyle, even before her formal training in this field.
Over 5 years, Sayuri has prepared a range of cuisines - both raw and cooked vegan - at the Purple Valley Yoga Retreat Centre in Goa, India, for six months out of the year. During the off season, she caters for yoga retreats and teacher trainings, and teaches vegan/raw classes internationally.
Sayuri also worked at Samudra, the raw food restaurant, in Australia.
In 2009 and 2010, Sayuri directly assisted raw food chefs Simone Power and Matt Samuelson at Radiantly Alive's Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, and was the head chef for the two week Level II Module in May 2010. She returned to us as head chef in 2011 and again this year.
Being a yoga practitioner herself & catering for many yoga retreats in India, Bali, Spain, Australia, U.S.A & Greece,has given her a greater understanding of preparing foods for yogis individual needs.
She proposes the healthy, sustainable and high conscious lifestyle for us, the earth and the future through teaching raw or cooking workshops and training around the world by sharing the love and knowledge she has within.

Australian Born, Ben has been passionately involved in the food world for nearly 20 years & raw foods for the last 3. Having the privilege to work alongside some of the worlds inspiring people at yoga retreats, raw food restaurants & events in Australia, Bali & Thailand, he's discovered it's not one element that creates greatness, its pulling together the keys. "We truly are living in a time of great discovery, with the amount of information & technology that is easily available to us today, we can confidently & safely set out on the journey into re-discovering ourselves through Raw Foods"
Being involved in catering for intimate, special event groups and larger groups of up to 500 people has given him much insight into what it takes to deliver great food with passion & attention to detail. Having a strong focus on nutrition, he teaches the fundamentals of balance & purpose to creating raw culinary dishes for any event.
There are a few limited spaces for on-site accommodations. All other Raw Chef trainees stay off-site, and are responsible for their own accommodations and daily transportation to and from Anahata Resort. With a wide range of price ranges available for housing, apprentices can select from local accommodations that best suit their budgets. We can provide some helpful information.
