Recipe Corner
Leah's famous raw pumpkin pie
Crust:
3/4 C cashews
1/2 C almonds
1/4 C walnuts
2 t cinnamon
1/2 t - 1t salt
1 T coconut oil
70g dates
Blend
nuts, cinnamon and salt in blender or food processor until a fine
powder. Process or blend dates into the powder. Mix in coconut oil by
hand, taking care to make sure the mixture is not too wet. The nut
proportions can be adjusted depending on taste or availability.
Grease a pie pan with coconut oil and press crust into it. Put in freezer to set while you make filling.
Filling:
6 C pumpkin, shredded
1 T cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
1/8 t clove
1/4 t salt
1 t fresh ginger (powder is fine for a substitute)
160g dates
1/2 C almond milk
1 T psyllium husk (optional)
Blend
all ingredients in blender until smooth and tasty. Pour into pie crust.
Set in freezer for 1-2 hour and then transfer to fridge. You can top
the pie with almond cream (blend meat from almond milk with vanilla and
dates to taste - add water until a thick creamy consistency). Enjoy!

Radiantly Alive August 2008 Newsletter
Aloha friends,
Greetings
from the Maui, the Valley Isle. What a privilege to be here basking in
the beauty of this island and so warmly welcomed by the Studio Maui
where I’m on a 5 week guest teaching residency.
American by birth, yet having lived most of my life abroad, returning
this time I’m struck by how many people seem to be planning their
getaway. Though I focus most of my attention on uplifting information,
which keeps me away from mainstream media, Americans’ concern about the
falling economy is ubiquitous. It reminds me of Carnegie’s first law of
business: “Protect your investments”, and how that relates to us who
have embarked into the business of consciously creating our lives.
Investing in ourselves, and remembering that we can choose our response
to external events, world conditions included, generates greater and
greater freedom – regardless of where we live.
May we all remember that our own happiness is an inside game. We create
it within ourselves. And as we do, so too do we instantly share it with
the world. Let us invest abundantly in our creative response to our
world that is calling out for more of us to shine optimism and joy into
all that we do.

| Congratulations 2008 Yoga Teacher Training Participants! |
Our
third annual Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training again surpassed our
hopes and expectations, and already we’ve raised the bar and are
implementing new features in 2009. Along with returning faculty,
including Edward Clark, Elaina Love, Emil Wendel and Chris Kummer, and
the new additions of Simon Borg-Olivier (Yoga Synergy), David Garrigues
(Astanga), and Alanna Kaivalya (Jivamukti), our curriculum bounded
forward in quality and depth. Gabriel Cousens MD taught a special
section on Living Food Nutrition, and we were blessed with amazing live
musical performances by Wah! and Dave Stringer.
We’ve created a video trailer to give people a glimpse into the uniqueness and power of the program – click here to take a peek.
Side note and preview! In 2009, we’re expanding to offer two Vibrant
Living Yoga Teacher Trainings: May 10 - June 7 and Oct 18 – Nov 15.
We’re still adding more fantastic faculty and have already confirmed
new additions including Tim Miller and Louise Ellis. See here for details.

| Astrological Tidbits: Two Wrongs can make a Right |
With
both Mars and Saturn journeying through the nitpicky sign of Virgo, and
with both Mercury and Venus soon to visit, we’re in the midst of a
cycle where it’s especially easy to notice what’s wrong. The sign of
Virgo gets a bad rap as being the uptight, anal archetype. True, Virgo,
which means all those who were born with the sun in Virgo, and all of
us for the next several months, tends to notice the problems, what’s
not working, what’s out of alignment. It does so, however, with the
goal of putting it right, of creating a greater cosmic order.
Two wrongs, or two problems - or any number of things we might tend to
complain about and wish were different - can make a right, if we notice
them with energizing them, and then focus our attention on what we’d
like to create instead. So while Virgo invites us to delve into
what we wish were different, delve. And then swivel focus toward
solutions. This will process can be especially profound toward the end
of August and through the rest of 2008 as Jupiter (governor of luck and
opportunity) will gracefully align (trine) with Saturn as it completes
it’s journey through fussy Virgo. It means we’re more susceptible to
universal assistance, that our intentions and plans (Saturn) are
energized by the world around us (Jupiter).
Remember,
the movement of the planets indicates an energy that is affecting all
of us. Far more powerful is how that particular (and other) symbology
is operating through our individual charts (what houses in your chart
are currently hosting Mars and Saturn? And from which house will
Jupiter bestow his blessing?). What wrongs will you right (and rewrite)?
