Zephyr Mercer : Profile

Movement and body awareness have been part of Zephyr's life since she began dancing at age 3. After studying Psychology at university she found yoga in 2004 and was immediately captured by the fusion of breath, movement and self-enquiry offered by this profound system.

Zephyr is devoted to a daily practice in the Ashtanga yoga tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and has studied extensively both in Mysore and with her beloved teachers Dena Kingsberg and Hamish Hendry whom she worked closely with during her past year in London. She is also inspired by the rich teachings of Jivamukti and Anusara yoga and enjoys creating playful sequences that encourage students to embrace the rich diversity of challenges found on the path to developing a more peaceful way.

Having taught extensively in the UK, South Africa and Australia, Zephyr's classes hope to stimulate the development of graceful movement and freedom of breath. Nurturing students to reflect and inquire into the depth and value of lessons offered by this magical system both on the mat and in the world, by opening their hearts to the wonder, beauty and possibility of developing a spiritual practice.
